Q: Hello, I just registered. …Now what?
A: Well, if you haven’t already, first read the rules, then make an intro topic. After that, stop by and post often. And be as random as possible. We respect that here.
Q: Marines…Air Force…Secret Service?! What kind of a forum is this?!
A: Eheheheh…well, you see, Badger Nation actually started out as a little internet nation for fun between the staff members of BN. We assigned military and political positions to people, and we had fun with it. But…things didn’t go as we would like, so we dropped the idea. But the titles of those boards still remain. Who knows? We might think of something to do with it. At the moment, they’re all just random. Don’t let it scare you, join in. REVAMP EDIT: As of 10/6/07 the forums now DO have purpose. What they're meant to be is right next to the original board name, so it should be pretty easy to figure out.
Q: Tea eff? Presidental Clone?
A: I have no clue what that means, or what it was originally for, but now it’s for our General Talk. Post whatever you want there.
Q: Uh…what’s with the karma?
A: Ah…probably the most frequently asked question. The karma system is generally your win/fail meter. When someone does something so awesome or hilarious, they get exalted. When they either break the rules, or do something else fail-worthy, they get smited. If you have a high karma, it generally means you win at life. If it’s low, then you’re doing something wrong. You can only exalt/smite ONCE every hour. Also, DO NOT ABUSE THE SYSTEM! Do not steal people’s accounts to boost your own karma, and do not stay up all night to smite someone you don’t really like. You wouldn’t think we’d need to say this, but you’d be surprised.
Q: How come I can’t capitalize or put spaces in my name when I registered?
A: That’s just Proboards being Proboards. Don’t worry, just click on ‘Profile’ on the top of the screen, then go to ‘Modify Profile’. There you can change your Display Name.
Q: What the--Prairie Dog? Flamingo? Gopher? What’s with these?
A: Those are your titles corresponding with your post count. It goes as such:
1-49: Newb
50-99: Member
100-299: Prairie Dog
300-499: Flamingo
500-699: Badger
700-999: Gopher
1000+: Badgerian
Also, you can earn your own custom title under your name. For example, Sona is ‘The Freaking Space Pope’ and Genux is ‘The Locust King’. Don’t ask how it happens, and don’t bug an admin to change it for you, it just happens.
